CINCINNATI - The Xavier track and field squad is heading to the University of Cincinnati to participate in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational. The Musketeers have participated in this event every season since 2005.

Teams competing in the event are: Cincinnati, Marquette, Dayton, Miami, Bellarmine, Cedarville, Findlay, IPFW, Kentucky State, Robert Morris (Pa.), Shawnee State, Ursuline College, Wheeling Jesuit and Wright State.

XU is coming off of a weekend spent on both coasts of the US. The majority of the team was at the Raleigh Relays where several Musketeers posted top-10 finishes. Brittani Peltz posted a seventh place finish in the 400 meters with a school-record time of 55.70. Keith Albrektson, Nick Williams, Hank Geer and Ben Foley also posted top-10 finishes.

Senior Tommy Kauffmann was at the Stanford Invitational where he posted a school-record time of 29:28.12 in the 10,000 meters for fourth place out of 42 runners.

Both squads had notable finishes at last season's event. The men's squad captured fifth place , while the women earned 12th. Kauffmann broke a school record and came in first in the 5,000 meter race with a time of 14:25.23. Hank Geer ran a personal-best time of 14:53.58 for fourth place.

Sprinter Nick Williams came in second in the 200 meters with a time of 21.39 and sixth in the 100 meters with a time of 10.90. Williams is currently ranked second in the Atlantic 10 in both of those distances behind Sam Jordan of Charlotte.

On the women's side, Caitlin Thomas finished second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:06.83. Caylin Howell posted a top 10 finish with a sixth place finish in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:45.22.



Events will take place at Gettler Stadium. Spectators are able to park in the Calhoun Garage for a charge of $5. Stay tuned to for results.
