CINCINNATI - The Xavier track and field team will stay in Cincinnati this weekend to take part in the two-day Oliver Nikoloff Invitational that begins on Friday at Gettler Stadium on the campus of the University of Cincinnati.

The Musketeers enter their third outdoor meet of the season after turning in strong individual performances last weekend at the Alabama Relays. This weekend's race will be the second time that Xavier has competed at Gettler Stadium this year.

Xavier brought home three first-place performances in last weekend's meet, including a win in the women's 5,000-meter run by sophomore Ashley Vincent. Her victory and new school-record time earned her Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honors for the second time in her career. Coming in second and third in that race for the Musketeers were sophomore Clare Fischer and senior Caylin Howell, respectively.

In addition to the Musketeers' strong turnout in the 5,000-meter run, senior Brittani Peltz won the 400-meter invitational dash and junior Rachel Clark placed third in the 800-meter dash. Peltz and Clark also helped the Musketeers set a new school record in the 4x400-meter relay.

On the men's side sophomore Tom Ohlman won the 3,000-meter steeplechase, senior Nick Williams ran well in the 100-meter dash, and junior Hank Geer took fifth in the 5,000-meter run.

The Musketeers will race just one athlete on Friday. The rest of the team will participate on Saturday, with field events starting at 9 a.m. and running events commencing at noon. The meet will finish at approximately 5:30 p.m. with the men's 4x400-meter relay.
