Kolibab seeks to continue his successful outdoor season this weekend at UC.

CINCINNATI - The Xavier track and field teams are staying home this weekend, as they compete in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational at Cincinnati. This is the second outdoor meet of the season for the team, which seeks to gain experience against the highly competitive teams throughout the Midwest including Cincinnati, Kentucky, Dayton, NKU, BIG EAST rivals Butler and Marquette and more.
Craig Krcal, who is participating in both the pole vault and javelin, is competing in the pole vault for the first time this outdoor season and is coming off of an indoor season in which he won the event at the BIG EAST championship. Krcal will also be challenging for the top spot in the javelin, which he won last week at the Butler Invitational.
John Kolibab, who won the high jump last weekend and in the process set a school record and all-time best of 2.01m, and Ryan Konstanzer, who begins his outdoor season in open 400m and on multiple relay teams, have also been competing well
Clare Fishcer, Abby Fischer, Jessica Albers and Sarah Mazzei are all running in the 5000m,which marks the first outdoor meet for Clare Fischer, and Anna Ahlrichs and Caterina Karas are competing for the first time this season in the 3000m Steeplechase, an outdoor only event.
Mercedes Oliver won last weekend's shot put at the Butler Invitational by setting a new personal record with a distance of 13.08m and is slated to compete in the shot put, discus and hammer this weekend. This is the first time that she will be competing in three events at one meet.
The Oliver Nikoloff Invitational is scheduled to start this Friday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m. at UC and continue through Saturday, March 29.
