BIG EAST Release

CINCINNATI - Following this past weekend's BIG EAST Indoor Championship, Craig Krcal, John Kolibab and Mercedes Oliver have each been named to the All-BIG East Indoor Track and Field Team after their outstanding performances at the championship meet. All-BIG EAST recognition goes to student-athletes who finish in the top three of either an individual event or a relay at the Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Krcal won the conference championship in the pole vault clearing a height of 4.70m, beating out four other competitors in the final round for the top spot. This is Krcal's second year in a row winning a conference championship; he won last year's Atlantic 10 Championship in the pole vault as well. Kolibab is also finishing a successful indoor track season after his performance at the Championship. Kolibab set a school record in the high jump by reaching a height of 2.00m and taking third place.

Oliver had a successful weekend at the Championships by setting two new school records. On Friday, she participated in the weight throw where she reached a distance of 15.10m, placing sixth and beating the old school record by over two meters. Her All-BIG EAST performance came on Saturday where she took second in the shot put after tossing a distance of 13.58 meters, setting a new school record.

Xavier track and field begin their outdoor season in Indianapolis at the Butler Invitational on Saturday, Mar. 22.
