Musketeers Claim Four School Records at All-Ohio Championship

CINCINNATI - The Xavier University men's and women's track teams collectively broke four school records this weekend at the All-Ohio Championship hosted by Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.

On the women's side sophomore Becky Clark once again broke the school-record in the one-mile run, running a new lifetime-best of 5:01.

The women's distance medley consisting of junior Caitlin Shagena, freshman Kelsey Flaherty, freshman Katie Phillips, and Clark also broke the school record by an outstanding 42 seconds finishing in a time of 12:20.96.

Senior Kelly Sraj and sophomore Amy Sanders and also had standout performances. Sraj recorded a time of 10:35.20 in the 3,000-meter run finishing seventh while Sanders finished in notable 20:20.8 in the 5,000-meter run.

The men's squad also had two records broken. Sophomore Jeff Hileman broke his own school record in the 60-meter hurdles finishing in a time of 8.86.

Freshman Dereck LeBlanc long jumped a school-best distance of 6.25 meters in his first meet with the Musketeers.

The men's distance medley team of junior Ben Milroy, LeBlanc, junior Matthew Weingardt, and sophomore Luke Beuerlein turned in the second-best time in school history in the event at 10:39.90.

The Xavier University men's and women's track teams return to action on Saturday, February 17 when they compete in the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships in Kingston, Rhode Island. The meet is set to start at 9:30 a.m.
