Musketeers Travel to the Big Apple to Compete at New Balance Collegiate Invite

CINCINNATI-   The Xavier men's and women's track and field team is headed to the Big Apple to take part in the nationally recognized New Balance Collegiate Invitational held at the Armory Track & Field Center on February 5-6. XU will be competing with over 100 universities and colleges including reigning NCAA national champions No. 1 Texas A&M.

With this being such a large meet, entries for participation were based on time qualifications. XU will be sending 13 athletes to compete with the best the nation has to offer. Juniors Tommy Kauffmann and Caitlin Thomas are looking to continue their proficient performances in the 5,000-meter run coming off of record-breaking finishes at the Gladstein Invitational.

Other record holders making the trip include: Nick Williams, Brittani Peltz, Kristen Bennett, Emily Tyler and Derek LeBlanc. Keith Albrektson, Hank Geer, Ben Nathan, Caylin Howell, Bethany Moore and Catherine Phillips are also slated to participate.


 

 

The Musketeers will see some familiar faces with fellow Atlantic 10 schools Fordham University, La Salle University, Temple University and George Washington University taking to the track. Additionally, Ohio State and University of Cincinnati will be sending representatives to compete.

Competition is set to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday and 9:20 a.m. on Saturday. Stay tuned to GOXAVIER.com for updated statistics, news and more for Xavier track and field.
