Xavier Track Breaks Four School-Records at Gladstein Invitational
Jan. 27, 2007 CINCINNATI - The Xavier University track team broke four school records as they competed in the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Indiana, hosted by Indiana University. This meet came after a 48 days hiatus from competition. Sophomore Becky Clark claimed two of the four school records. Clark's time of 5:02:29 in the one-mile run was not only a school record, but also a lifetime best for Clark in this event. She also set a school record in the 800-meter run recording a time of 2:18:12, which was also her fastest time of the year. Junior Amanda Brown turned in a note worthy performance in the 5,000-meter run finishing forth in a time of 18:33. Six girls including: Clark, freshmen Katie Phillips and Bethany Moore, sophomore Ashley Stick, junior Caitlin Shagena, and freshman Kelsey Flaherty turned in times of 2:26 or faster in the 800-meter run. On the men's side, sophomore Jeff Hileman turned in a record-breaking performance in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8:99. However, this was not Hileman's only event on the record books. Hileman also ran the second leg of the men's distance medley that claimed the new school record in a time of 10:38:57. Running in the event were junior Ben Milroy, Hileman, sophomore Clinton Womack, and sophomore Luke Beuerlein. Beuerlein's time of 8:46:08 in the 3,000-meter run was his second personal-best time. Milroy also turned in a second personal-best recording a time of 15:08:79 in the 5,000 meter run. Freshman Drew Kaiser broke his own personal-best time in the 5,000-meter run by 56 seconds finishing in a time of 15:49:81. These Xavier University men's and women's track teams return to action Saturday, February 10 as they compete in the All-Ohio Championships.
