FINDLAY, Ohio - Sophomore Becky Clark led a sweep of the top four in the women's one-mile run while fellow sophomore Luke Beuerlein recorded a second-place finish in the men's 3,000-meter run on Saturday as the Xavier University men's and women's track teams competed at the University of Findlay Oiler Opener at Malcolm Athletic Center. In all, the Musketeers turned in 17 top-ten finishes to open the season in excellent fashion.

Beuerlein led four Xavier runners in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:01.2, earning him second place in the event.  Finishing right with him was junior Ben Milroy at 9:01.4.   Junior Tony Matheus was ten seconds behind their pace at 9:11.6 to finish in sixth, while freshman Drew Kaiser rounded off the list of four Xavier top-ten finishers in the event with a 9:13.8 (eighth place).

Clark was the leading Xavier finisher for the Musketeer-dominated women's one-mile run with a time of 5:13.01.  The next three finishers wore Xavier blue and white, including freshman Dani Meiners in second (5:26.18), junior Caitlin Shagena in third (5:38:94), and sophomore Katie Dominguez in fourth (5:49.14).

Other exceptional Xavier finishers included sophomore Clinton Womack finishing sixth in the men's one-mile run with a time of 4:36.38, as well as freshmen Katie Phillips and Bethany Moore in the women's 800-meter run,  finishing fourth (2:21.31) and eighth (2:25.92), respectively.  In the women's 3,000-meter run, senior Kelly Sraj (seventh, 10:38.96) and junior Amanda Brown (ninth, 10:54.28) ran well against a tough University of Michigan, UD, and UC field.

Xavier will return to the track next weekend on December 9th when the Musketeers travel to Kent, Ohio to participate in the Golden Flash Gala.  Starting time is set for 11 a.m.
