Senior Tom Ohlman picked up a fifth-place finish in the Steeplechase on Friday night.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Xavier track & field sent three members of its team to the Cardinal Twilights in a last chance effort to qualify or solidify spots in the NCAA First Rounds. Tom Ohlman, John Kolibab and Mercedes Oliver participated in the event.
Ohlman, who entered the weekend ranked 40th in the NCAA East Region in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, earned a fifth-place finish with a time of 9:14.27. The senior distance runner awaits the results of other meets this weekend to see if he qualified for the NCAA First Rounds. The top 48 runners qualify for the event.
Xavier's career record holder in both the indoor and outdoor high jump, Kolibab, cleared a height of 1.94m to finish sixth. Oliver took eighth place in the women's shotput after recording a distance of 13.54m. Kolibab and Oliver's seasons came to an end, as neither athlete was able to improve upon their mark to slide into the NCAA First Round.
Senior captain Clare Fischer qualified for the women's 10,000-meter run. She will make the trip to Jacksonville, Fla., for the NCAA First Round, which is scheduled for May 29-31.
