CINCINNATI - The Xavier track and field team competed in the Stan Lyon Invitational Saturday afternoon at Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind.
The men's 1500 featured Musketeers Connor Buccholz, Tom Ohlman and Corey Zielinski. Buccholz finished fifth, almost breaking a personal best with 3:56:21. Ohlman followed close behind with a time of 3:58.
The women's 1500 started out slow in the first half, but the girls were able to pull through into the second. Audrey Ramos came in second at 4:42 and Anna Ahlrich in third at 4:43. Jessica Albers ran a personal best in the 1500 with a time of 4:44, landing her a spot in fourth.
After only three weeks after having his appendix removed, Grant Parrelli ran in the men's 800, finishing third with 250 meters to go. He was able to finish second overall after being spiked in the leg by one of his competitors.
Kristine Johnson had a successful day coming in second in the 400 with a new record of 59.54. In the women's 800, Susannah Shelly ran consistently throughout the race, finishing second overall. She was able to finish strong in her final 100 setting a new second best record of the year at 2:15.
The team will now prepare for their BIG EAST outdoor championship in Villanova, Pa. From May 10-11.
