Two School Records Fall at Western Kentucky

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Freshmen Danna Deans and Clinton Womack each set a new school record on Saturday as the Xavier University men's and women's track teams competed at the Third Annual National City Invitational hosted by Western Kentucky University. The Musketeers finished the day with two new school records as well as three new personal bests in the day's action at Charles M. Ruter Track. Womack recorded his program-best time of 24.54 in the 200-meter dash, breaking the previous record which was set last year. Sophomore Ben Milroy turned in the top individual finish as he finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:31.90. Matthew Weingardt also had a strong showing for the men with a personal-best time of 10:15.24 en route to a sixth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Deans led on the women's side with a ninth-place finish in the 400-meter run in record time of 1:02.46. Amanda Brown ran to a personal-best time of 18:19.35 in the 5,000-meter run as did senior Heather Stafford as she finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:07.88. Xavier will be back on the track on Saturday, May 6, for day one of the two-day Atlantic 10 Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Charlotte. -XU-
