OXFORD, Ohio - Sophomore twins Clare and Abby Fischer took the first and second spots respectively in their race and junior Hank Geer finished second at day one of the 2012 All-Ohio Championships on Friday.

Clare Fischer won the women's 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:18.79. It ist the first time she has won a 5K outdoor race in her career. Abby Fischer clocked a new personal-best time of 17:22.14 to earn her consecutive runner up spot. She placed second last weekend in the 10,000-meter run at the Sea Ray Relays.

Geer captured a 14:53.66 in the men's 5,000-meter run. His finish was the highest in his career in any outdoor event.

Three other personal-best times were set on Friday with sophomore Chelsea Hoffmaster's seventh-place finish (17:46.40) and junior Calesse Cardosi's 12th-place finish (18:13.01) in the women's 5K. Junior Ben Foley ran a 15:05.63 to finish seventh in the men's 5K.

The women's team is in third place with 20 points after the first day of competition. The men's team is sitting in eighth with 10 points.

The meet resumes at noon on Saturday from the George L. Rider Track on the campus of Miami University.
