Xavier Track And Field Gain Experience At All-Ohio Championships

CINCINNATI - The Xavier track and field teams competed in the All-Ohio Championships at the University of Cincinnati this weekend where the women's team finished thirteenth and the men's team finished twelfth. The Championships consisted of teams from across the state from Division I, Division II and NAIA.
The women's 4x100m relay consisting of Monica Mannings, Brenna McGrath, Victoria Chiller and Kristine Johnston had a season-best performance of 49.60 taking sixth overall. Chiller and McGrath also had season-best performances in the 400m. McGrath placed twenty-first with a time of 1:00.15 and Chiller finished twenty-third with a time of 1:00.33.
Susannah Shelley set a personal record in the 800m by crossing sixth overall in a time of 2:15.10. With this time, she moves up to eighth in the BIG EAST in the event. Emily Wolery also set a personal record in the 1500m. She finished seventeenth with a time of 5:01.44.
Madison Riethman and Haley Jerabek both ran the 800m setting personal records by finishing back to back. Riethman took eleventh with a time of 2:17.01 and Jerabek right behind her placing twelfth with a time of 2:17.63.
Craig Krcal threw a season-best of 51.46m in the javelin, only a meter away from his own school record. Russell Platt set a new personal record in the 200m with a time of 22.39, moving him up to fifth in the BIG EAST rankings. Platt was also apart of the men's 4x100m team with teammates Josh Phelan, Dimitrious Dimitroff and Matthew Bryant that took sixth in the event.
Brett Neugebauer competed in the 400m hurdles for the first time this season. He finished eleventh in the event with a time of 61.34 and is now ranked eighth in the BIG EAST. Connor Buchholz ran a personal record in the 1500m with a time of 3:57.91 finishing eleventh.
Matt Orlando set a personal record in the 800m by completing the race in a time of 1:57.35 moving him up to eighth in the BIG EAST ranks. Keith Schenkel competed in the 5000m for the first time this season and set a personal record in the event by finishing with time of 15:50.11, taking seventeenth.
The team travels west next week to compete in both the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. and the Beach Invite in Long Beach, Calif.
