Xavier T&F Returns From Oxford With 14 Top-10 Finishers

CINCINNATI - The Xavier track and field teams returned from the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio Saturday with many personal records to boast about. Junior Tom Ohlman led the Musketeers with a first place finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase and freshman Onya Edwards set a new outdoor triple jump record.
Ohlman led the way for Xavier, finishing first overall for the first time this outdoor season with a time of 9:17.40 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Ohlman also holds second and third place finishes on the season. The steeplechase will be Ohlman's primary event come early May when the Musketeers head to Charlotte for the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships.
Sophomore John Kolibab finished third in the high jump clearing 1.90-meters in the process, marking his second top-3 finish of the outdoor season. Senior David Gibson finished 6th in both the long jump and the 100-meter dash, finishing with a distance of 6.69-meters in the long jump and a personal best of 11.18 in the 100-meter. Junior Craig Krcal also competed, finishing 7th in the pole vault clearing a height of 4.45-meters. Krcal also contributing one of the four legs on the men's 4x100-meter relay team.
Jake Dibattista set personal bests in both the discus and javelin this weekend with distances of 38.25-meters and 44.49-meters, respectively. The sophomore finished 7th in the javelin throw and 16th in the discus throw. Classmates Ryan Konstanzer and Connor Buchholz had strong days as Konstanzer ran the 400-meter dash in 50.51 while Buchholz ran the 5000-meter in a personal best time of 15:46.59. Randall Mitchell had a career best in the triple jump as well with a distance of 12.85-meters. The freshman also competed in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing in 16,18 seconds, good enough for 12th.
The women's team were led by two freshman in the field events this past weekend. Onya Edwards broke the school record in the triple jump with her distance of 10.82-meters. Edwards also contributed a leg of the 4x100-meter relay team, which finished 9th with a time of 50.26. Freshman Mercedes Oliver also stood out for the Musketeers, earning a sixth place finish in the discus throw with a new personal record of 43.05-meters. Oliver also participated in the shot put, finishing 12th out of 27 with a heave of 12.42-meters.
One of the top individual performers on the women's side was junior Jssica Albers whose seventh place finish in the 5000-meter was a new personal record. Her time of 17:45.45 bested her previous career-best by 18 seconds. Sophomore Audrey Ramos followed Albers in the 5000-meter, finishing in 14th with a time of 18:21.41.
The women's 1500-meter race saw seven of the Musketeers' top runners finish, led by senior Rachel Clark, who finished 6th with a time of 4:37.44. Following the captain was junior Abby Fischer (13th, 4:43.92), junior Anna Ahlrichs (18th, 4:47.54), senior Kaitlin Price (19th, 4:47.56), freshman Sarah Mazzei (25th, 4:52.32), junior Madison Riethman (30th, 4:58.01), and freshman Victoria Ciotti (46th, 5:12.20).
The Musketeers will travel to Knoxville, Tennessee for the Sea Ray Relays from April 11th-13th. The meet will be hosted by the University of Tennessee.
