Ohlman won the 3K Steeplechase in his first time competing in the event this season.

OXFORD, OHIO - The Xavier track and field teams participated in the Miami Invitational this past weekend at Miami (OH) University in Oxford, Ohio where the women's team finished fourth out of ten with sixty-six points and the men's team finished third out of eleven with sixty-seven points. Several athletes placed high in their events and set personal records with a few athletes continuing their rise in the BIG EAST rankings, all against a competitive field of athletes.
Seven Musketeers competed in the 5000m, taking six of the top nine spots. The field included Clare Fischer (2nd, 16:53), Abby Fischer (3rd, 16:54), Audrey Ramos (4th, 17:03), Jessica Albers (7th, 17:33), Sarah Mazzei (8th, 17:34) and Anna Ahlrichs (9th, 17:41). These are all personal records for Abby Fischer, Ramos, Mazzei, Ahlrichs and Clare Fischer, who tied her own personal record. Clare Fischer, Ramos and Abby Fischer now have the top three performances so far in the BIG EAST and respectively 35th (Clare Fischer), 37th (Abby Fischer) and 52nd (Ramos) in the country. Rachael Sollman rounded out the Xavier crew, still finishing in the top half of the field with a time of 18:34 in her first 5000m race.
Susannah Shelley and Haley Jerabek both set personal records in the 1500m by finishing ninth and fifteenth. Shelley crossed in a time of 4:45 and Jerabek in a time of 4:49. Monica Mannings set personal records in both the 100m and 200m by placing fifth in the 100m with a time of 12.68 and sixth in the 200m with a time of 26.24.
In the field events, Mercedes Oliver set two personal records on the day and set a new school record. Oliver took second in the shot put with a distance of 13.22m and set a school record in the hammer throw of 44.62m placing fifth. Her performance in the shot put ties her for second in the BIG EAST rankings.
Onya Edwards also contributed to the teams scoring with a fourth place finish in the long jump (5.37m) and taking third in the triple jump (10.65m). Her long jump performance moves her to fourth in the BIG EAST rankings.
Connor Buchholz won the 5000m by crossing with a time of 15:32, setting a personal record. Tom Ohlman also won the 3K Steeplechase in first time competing in it this season with a time of 9:13. Ohlman's time moves him up to fourth on the BIG EAST rankings, sixteenth in Division I East Region and thirty-second overall in all of Division I.
In the 100m Russell Platt finished third with a time of 10.95, a personal record, and Dimitrious Dimitroff took fourth with a time of 11.13. Platt is now ranked third in the BIG EAST for the event. Dimitroff also finished fourth in the 200m with a time of 22.54, a new personal best.
Josh Phelan set a personal record in the 400m and also set a personal record in the 200m of 22.97, taking sixth. Brett Neugebauer set a personal record in the 400m with a time of 52.54. In the 800m, Matt Orlando set a personal record by crossing with a time of 1:57.84, taking eighth place.
John Kolibab placed second in the high jump with a height of 1.95m, continuing his strong season in the event.
The teams are back on the track next weekend at the All-Ohio Championships at the University of Cincinnati, April 11-12.
