Senior captain Rachel Clark looks to be back in top form after her 2nd place finish in the 800-meter run this past weekend at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational.

Cincinnati- The Xavier Track and field teams had a successful Easter weekend competing at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational at the University of Cincinnati's Gettler Stadium. 13 Musketeers recorded top-10 finishes in several different events this past weekend including 10 individuals in the top-5.
Senior captain Rachel Clark led the way for both teams with her 2nd place finish in the 800-meter in a time of 2:11.95. She led the entire race, which came down to the final step where she was out leaned by a runner from Miami of Ohio. Clark's time was five seconds faster than she's run since coming off of an injury during cross country season. Junior Madison Riethman finished 8th with a time of 2:16.34, setting a new personal record with her breakthrough performance. Senior Kaitlin Price finished 13th with a time of 2:18.23 and sophomore Carrie Kurish finished 21st with a time of 2:36.93.
Top performers for the men's side starts in the 5000-meter run where Junior Tom Ohlman and senior Hank Geer finished 2nd and 3rd with times of 14:42.24 and 14:46.26, respectively. Junior Spencer Liechty finished 21st with a time of 15:52.77. Senior David Gibson finished 5th in the long jump with a distance of 6.60-meters. Sophomore Jake Dibattista finished 10th in the shot put with a distance of 11.23-meters, 12th in the discus throw with a distance of 34.92-meters, and 8th in the javelin throw with a distance of 41.57-meters. Junior Craig Krcal finished 5th in the javelin with a distance of 46.49-meters.
Juniors Clare Fischer and Abby Fischer placed 2nd and 3rd in the 5000-meter with personal best times of 16:53.86 and 17:02.58, respectively. Freshman Sarah Mazzei also recorded a top-10 finish with a time of 17:48.66 for 7th place and senior Calesse Cardosi finished 21st with a time of 18:45.48. Junior Anna Ahlrichs finished the 3000-meter steeplechase in 11:20.51, setting a personal record in the process.
In other events, freshman Randall Mitchell finished the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 16 seconds while senior Evan Betts followed close behind in 10th with a time of 16.08 seconds. Mitchell also finished 10th in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.61 seconds. Sophomore John Kolibab finished 8th in the high jump clearing a height of 1.93-meters.
Top field performances on the women's side include the 3rd place finish for junior Adrija Taraska in the javelin with a distance of 32.51-meters. She also placed 16th in the shot put with a distance of 11.23-meters. Freshman Mercedes Oliver finished 6th in the discus throw with a distance of 42.96-meters and 13th in the shot put with a distance of 12.27-meters.
With their times and finishes this past weekend, Ohlman, Geer, Clark, and the Fisher twins hope to qualify for the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, California the weekend of April 19th and 20th. While they wait to find out if they have qualified, which they'll know soon, the track and field teams are preparing for the the Miami Invitational in Oxford, Ohio this upcoming weekend.
