Distance Runners Dominate Day One Of Alabama Relays

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The first day of the Alabama Relays was dominated by Xavier's distance runners, who recorded five top five finishes on the day.

Sophomore Ashley Vincent led a trio of Musketeers at the top of the women's 5,000-meter race with her new school-record time of 16:52.28. Behind her in second place was classmate Clare Fischer (16:59.49) and senior Caylin Howell (17:03.02) finishing third. All three runners broke the old school record time of 17:13.30 set by Howell last season.

Sophomore Tom Ohlman won the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase with his time of 9:09.99. Also turning in a strong performance on the men's side was junior Hank Geer, who placed fifth in the 5,000-meter run (14:46.14).
