Seven School Records Fall at Husker Invitational

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Xavier University men's and women's track teams faced its stiffest competition of the season at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational and the Musketeers responded by setting seven school records in the two-day event. Five of the seven record times came in individual events while a pair came in the men's and women's distance medley as the Musketeers completed action at the Devaney Center Indoor Track. Sophomore Ben Milroy kicked off the great weekend for the Musketeers in the 5,000-meter run with a record time of 15:13.73 en route to a fifth-place finish. In the one-mile run, freshman Luke Beuerlein broke his own school record of 4:26.62 with a time of 4:19.49. The last record to fall on the men's side came in the distance medley where Clinton Womack, Jeff Hileman, Paul Satudigel and Luke Beuerlein turned in a time of 10:52.56. On the women's side, freshman Becky Clark broke her previous-best time of 5:11.24 in the one-mile run with a time of 5:07.43. Freshman Ashley Stick returned to her home state and established the school record in the 600-yard run with a time of 1:39.24. In the 3,000-meter run, junior Kelly Sraj turned in a new record time of 10:27.24. The distance medley relay of Becky Clark, Danna Deans, Natalie Lyzinski and Joanna Gruber finished up record breaking for the ladies with a program-best time of 13:02.25. Xavier will now prepare for the Atlantic 10 Conference Indoor Track Championships, which will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18 in Kingston, R.I. -XU-
