Bloomington, Ind. - The Xavier track and field team participated in the Gladstein Invitational Friday afternoon at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. The team went into today's meet with a limited number of athletes to help gain experience as they move forward in the season.

This was both Clare Fischer's and Tom Ohlman's first meet of the season. Fischer is coming off of a strong cross country season that ended with her earning a trip to an NCAA championship appearance and Ohlman is returning from an injury that sidelined him for eight months. Both ran the 3000m today with Fischer finishing in a time of 10:10 and Ohlman in 8:26.

Other members of the team that had strong performances were Ryan Konstanzer and Connor Buchholz. Konstanzer ran the 400m in 52.3 and Buchholz completed the 3000m in 8:54.

Head coach Ryan Orner said, "Today was a productive meet for our team. We ran on a bank track, which was great experience for us because the BIG EAST championship is going to have the same style track."

The rest of the team will be back tomorrow as they take part in the Mastodon Duals at IPFW in Fort Wayne, Ind., at 11 a.m.
