Glenn Arnold is entering his sixth year as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the Xavier University Track & Field team. His responsibilities as a volunteer assistant include coaching all throwing event athletes. Arnold is employed within the Xavier University Recreational Sports Department where he serves as an Assistant Director by overseeing the Intramural Sports Program, Outdoor Adventures Education, and Facility Scheduling/Game Day operations.
Arnold's first college coaching experience came at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia (2005-2007). He coached two NCAA Division III All-Americans and several All-Conference throwers/multi-event athletes in the University Athletic Association Indoor and Outdoor Championships. A native of the Cincinnati area Arnold decided to stay in Ohio for both undergraduate and graduate school. He attended the University of Rio Grande, located in southeast Ohio, and earned his Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science in 2003. While at Rio, he was a four-year scholarship athlete and a 3-time national qualifier for the NAIA Track & Field National Championships. He was also a 2-time American Mideast Conference champion and was named to the NAIA Scholar All-American team his senior year. Arnold still holds both track and school records at Rio Grande in the hammer throw and the 35 pound weight throw.
Arnold later attended Ohio University for graduate school and, in 2005, earned his Masters of Science in Recreation and Sport Science with a concentration in Coaching Education. In 2011, he was inducted into the Western Brown High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He was selected for his many accomplishments in football, basketball, and track & field while attending Western Brown which is located east of Cincinnati in Mt. Orab, Ohio.
Arnold is a member of the National Throws Coaches Association, National Intramural Sports and Recreation Association (NIRSA), the Ohio Recreational Sports Association, and the American Canoe Association. He holds several certifications including: USA Track & Field Level 1 Coaching Certification, American Canoe Association Level 1 Kayak Instructor's certification, and is CPR/AED & First Aid certified.
