Bethany Anderson is entering her second year as an assistant track and field coach, specializing in the throwing events.
During the 2013-14 season, the throwers made significant improvements, including Mercedes Oliver who set the school records in the indoor shot, indoor weight throw and the hammer throw.
Prior to Xavier, Anderson was an assistant coach at Columbus Academy. She coached the throwing events and helped two student-athletes advance to the OHSAA Division III Regionals in both the shot put and discus.
Anderson participated in track and field at Youngstown State from 2004-08, finishing her collegiate career as a 12-time Horizon League Champion and a four-time NCAA Regional Championship qualifier. She was also an NCAA Indoor National Qualifier in the weight throw in 2009 in addition to being tabbed the Horizon League Female Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year. In 2007, she was named the YSU Female Athlete of the Year.
The Jamestown, N.Y., native is currently completing degrees in health promotion: exercise/fitness and education.
