Five Xavier Swimmers To Compete In Winter Nationals

CINCINNATI - Xavier swimming will be well represented at the 2013 AT&T Winter National Championships from Dec. 5-7. Carolyn Stewart, Luke Johanns, Chad Thompson, Rodrigo Suriano and Armando Moss will compete in the prestigious event.
This marks the second-straight season in which Stewart and Thompson will swim in the event. Johanns, Suriano and Moss are making their first appearance at the meet.
Stewart will compete in the 100 back, an event in which she placed 64th last season. Thompson and Johanns are also competing in individual events. Thompson is swimming in the 200 IM and 200 back. The senior finished 60th in the 200 IM and 51st in the 200 back last year. Johanns will take to the blocks in the 50 free. The two men will also team with Suriano and Moss in the 200, 400 and 800 free relays.
The AT&T Winter Nationals features not only the best swimmers in America, but several Olympians as well. Katie Ledecky, Missy Franklin and Natalie Coughlin are participating on the women's side and Nathan Adrian and Matt Grevers on the men's.
The University of Tennessee is hosting the event at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville, Tenn. Competition will start with preliminaries at 9 a.m. (ET) and finals at 5 p.m. (ET).
