
Two XU Swimmers Earn A-10 Weekly Honors

CINCINNATI - Two Xavier swim team members were named Atlantic 10 Performer and Rookie of the Week as announced by the conference office Monday, Dec. 3. Junior Patrick McGrath earned his first weekly honor this season after being named Men's Performer of the Week and freshman Kari Peglar was named Women's Rookie of the Week, her third such honor this year. McGrath finished first in the 500-yard freestyle at the Akron Invitational (Nov. 30-Dec. 2) with a time of 4:36.8...placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.15) and 11th in the 100-yard freestyle (47.62)...swam a leg of the winning 800-yard freestyle relay (6:56.40) and also competed on the 400-yard freestyle (3:09.56) and 400-yard medley (3:30.41) relays. The Xavier men's team finished first overall in the 11-team field. Peglar set a pair of school records as Xavier placed fourth out of nine teams at the Akron Invitational (Nov. 30-Dec.2)...won the 500-yard freestyle in a program-record time of 4:59.80 and finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.95)...placed seventh in the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:32.56) and swam a leg of the 400-yard freestyle (3:33.75), 400-yard medley (3:58.01) and 800-yard freestyle (7:47.40) relays. The XU swim teams will be traveling to Coral Springs, Fla. during the first week of January for their annual Spring Training Trip meet.
