Xavier's Strader Named BIG EAST Men's Swimmer Of The Week
Nov. 20, 2013
CINCINNATI - Xavier's Nick Strader was named BIG EAST Men's Swimmer of the Week in the first weekly awards handed out by the conference office for swimming. Strader has had a strong start to his career as a Musketeer.
In a dual meet against Tiffin last weekend, Strader won the 1000 free (9:54.84) and 500 free (4:46.06) to help lead the Musketeers to a victory. However, Strader's success began as soon as the season started.
In a dual at Miami (Ohio), Strader took second in the 1000 free (9:48.90) before winning the 500 free in 4:47.12. The meet at Miami was Xavier's second in as many days. Strader took second in the 1000 free (9:45.95) and fourth in the 500 free (4:49.57) the previous evening against Cincinnati.
The native of Noblesville, Ind., also finished second in both the 1000 free (9:48.69) and 500 free (4:47.17) against a tough Louisville squad earlier in the season.
This is the first weekly award for the freshman swimmer.
Xavier will be in action this weekend in the Cleveland State Magnus Cup. The meet is scheduled to be held Nov. 22-24 in the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium.
