CINCINNATI- The Xavier University swimming teams will travel to Geneva, Ohio for the Spire Institute Quad Meet on Saturday. The women's squad will take part in a meet with Duquesne, St. Bonaventure, La Salle and Butler, while the men's team will face St. Bona and La Salle.

The meet will provide a good barometer for the Musketeers to gauge where they stand in the early portion of the season. On the women's side, La Salle earned a third-place finish in the 2011-12 A-10 Championships, while Duquesne, St. Bonaventure and Xavier finished sixth, seventh and eighth, respectively. Bona, Xavier and La Salle earned second, third and fourth-place finishes, respectively, in last year's men's A-10 Championships.

Anne Frigo (50 free), Mackenna Rife (500 and 1000 free) and Carolyn Stewart (50 and 100 backstroke) have each posted top-five times in the A-10 thus far. Rife was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week on Oct. 23 after winning five of the seven events she raced that week. The freshman from Olathe, Kan. picked up second-place finishes in the other two events.

Stewart has picked up where she left off last season, posting several top-five times in backstroke events. Last year, the sophomore grabbed a pair of individual bronze medals in the A-10 Championships in the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events. Stewart teamed with Frigo, Maddie Day and Courtney Shields to take bronze in the 200-yard medley relay.

Xavier has been particularly strong in the backstroke events. In addition to Stewart's performances, Jacquelyn Misanik has added top-ten times in both the 100 (6th) and 200 backstroke (7th) events.

The men's team has also had multiple swimmer's post top-five times in the A-10 thus far, including Luke Johanns (50 and 100 free), Sam Conchuratt (100 free, 100 fly), Kiernan McGeehan (1000 free), David Maxwell (50 back), Chad Thompson (100 and 200 back, 400 IM), Knox Hitt (100 fly) and David Gordon (400 IM).
