Swim Teams to Compete at Cincinnati and Miami (Ohio) this Weekend

CINCINNATI - The Xavier swim teams will heading across town to the University of Cincinnati on Friday, Oct. 23, as the Bearcats are set to host the Musketeers in the Crosstown Splashdown at UC's Keating Aquatic Center at 5 p.m. On Saturday, XU will head north to Oxford, Ohio, to take on the RedHawks of Miami (Ohio) at the Nixon Aquatic Center at 1 p.m. Friday's dual meet at Cincinnati will be the first outing for the men's team as the women (1-0) competed at Marshall on Oct. 10, coming away with the 160-136 win over the Herd. The Musketeers are led by six senior team members and have welcomed 19 newcomers to their rosters this season. XU welcomes back the 2009 A-10 Men's Rookie Performer of the Year, Michael Zennedjian, as well as 2009 A-10 All-Conference team members senior Martha Cutter-Wilson, junior Nathan Green and junior Kari Peglar. Friday's meet will be the first outing of the season for the Bearcats. Cincinnati will kick off the afternoon with diving at 3:30 followed by the swimming events versus Xavier at 5 p.m. Admission to the meet is free. In between the diving and swimming, the pool will feature a United States Masters meet at 4:15 p.m. Masters competitors range in age groups from 25-100 and over and must be registered with USMS.
For the RedHawks, Saturday's meets will be the first for the men and the second for the women this season. The Miami men (1-1) opened the 2009-10 season on the road on Oct. 9-10 against Mid-American Conference foes Evansville and Southern Illinois, beating the Purple Aces and losing to the Salukis. Admission to the meet is free.
