CINCINNATI -- The Xavier swim team continues the fall portion of the 2011-12 season this weekend against local competition. The Musketeers face off against crosstown rival Cincinnati Friday at 5 p.m. at UC's Keating Aquatic Center. Saturday Xavier travels to Oxford, Ohio to face Miami in a 2 p.m. contest.

Last season, the XU men posted a win over the Bearcats while UC took the women's competition. Against Miami last year, the RedHawks edged the Musketeers in both men's and women's action.

Last weekend both the Xavier men and women suffered losses at Louisville in the season opener. Despite the loss, the Musketeers saw strong performances from each team. In the men's 100 yard butterfly, junior Sam Conchuratt took second in 0:51.26. Chad Thompson took first in the 200 individual medley in 1:56.93. Conchuratt teamed with senior Michael Zennedjian, Eric Dirvin, and Will Oswald to take first in the 800 freestyle relay.

In women's action the tandem of Lynn Brotherton, Brittany Morguelian, Grace Raynor, and senior Mary Podlaski took first in the 800 free relay. Freshman Carolyn Stewart took home a first place finish in her hometown with a victory in the 200 individual medley. She was followed by Samantha Sloand, Natalie Hyde and Jenny Martin.

For the Bearcats, Friday's meet will mark their 2011-12 season opener. Miami faces Big Ten power Purdue Friday, before hosting the Musketeers.
