CINCINNATI - The Xavier men's and women's swimming teams suffered their first dual meet losses of the season to Boston College on Friday at O'Connor Sports Center. The BC men defeated XU 151-110 and the Eagle women won 158-103.

Xavier's men did have winners in five events as Matthew Normile won the 200 Freestyle, David Janszen won the 100 and 200 Backstroke, Neil Rierson won the 100 Butterfly and Matt Young won the 400 IM.

Janszen's first place finishes in the 100 and 200 Back came in times of 55.08 and 2:01.28, which were the fastest times by any Musketeer this season. Young also set new team-bests with a 2:14.85 in the 200 Breaststroke and his first place time in the 400 IM of 4:17.26.

The 200 Medley Relay team of John Janszen, Dan Milheim, Neil Reierson and John Janszen also placed second in a season-best time of 1:39.99.

Xavier's women were led by a 1-2-3 finish in the 200 backstroke by the trio of Molly Moeller, Kristy Ulrich and Heather Greidanus. XU also had Angie Hinrichs win the 100 Freestyle, Dana Hunter win the 500 Free and Becky Faust win the 400 IM.

Senior Elizabeth Vernon set a new team-best for this season in the 1000 Freestyle with a time of 11:03.34 to finish third. Molly Moeller followed suit in the with a team-best time of 1:00.85 in the 100 Back and a 2:15.34 in the 200 Back. Janet Heil also set a season-best time in the 200 Fly of 2:13.41.

The Musketeer women had strong days in the relays as the 200 Medley Relay of Moeller, Krystel Kooyman, Sarah Brown and Hinrichs had a season-best time of 1:52.85 and the 200 Free Relay team of Kooyman, Hunter, Natalie Lindquist and Hinrichs finished in 1:42.43, also a season-best time for XU.

Xavier will next face Eastern Illinois at home on Saturday beginning at noon.
