"We're really excited about the incoming class that we'll be adding to our returning members," said MacDonald. "In both classes it was quality over quantity. There is no question we will continue to improve our standing in the conference over the next four years with this group."
Claire Brolsma of Noblesville, Ind., Haley Dresner of Floyds Knob, Ind., Omaha native Molly Kroeger, Louisville native Kristen Liebert and Mackenna Rife of Olathe, Kan., will hit the pool for the XU women in 2012.
"For the women Claire and Molly will help sure up our sprint and mid-distance freestyle group as well as contributing on relays," said MacDonald. "Haley and Kristen will add depth and talent to our Breastroke and Backstroke groups to really make that a strength on our team. Mackenna will be a nice weapon to have in dual meets as she will compete in a variety of events in addition to her specialty of distance freestyle."
"On the men's side it wasn't easy to replace our outgoing seniors, but I think these gentleman can do it," said MacDonald. "Knox comes in with some international experience and times that can challenge for the top three in our conference right now in the fly and backstroke. Luke had a fantastic senior year and at 6-7 there's a lot to like about his upside in the sprint freestyles and on relays. Nick came to us in spring recruiting and we were lucky to add him in April. With his ability and training background he will fit in great with the other monsters in the distance lane."
