Six More Choose Xavier University Swimming
June 1, 2006
CINCINNATI - Xavier University Head Swim Coach George Rathman is pleased to announce the spring signing of four women and two men who will join the Musketeers this upcoming fall. These six individuals join Kelsey Burns, Elizabeth Fichtel and Martha Cutter-Wilson who signed in November to be the next members of the Xavier University Swim Team.
"We had an extremely successful 2005-06 season, both in the classroom and the pool. Both teams achieved National Team GPA recognition, with the men ranked second in the nation for the fall 2005 term," stated Rathman. "In the pool, both teams scored more points at the Atlantic 10 Championships than previous Xavier teams. This resulted in a third place finish by the men, the highest in their history. Additionally, three individuals won A-10 championships and the team set a total of 17 school records. It was a fantastic season. The expectation is to use this past season as a building block to make 2006-07 an even better season. The nine individuals who have chosen Xavier will improve our relay situations, strengthen our line-up in specific events, and allow versatility for more individuals during the dual meet season. Our team prides itself on our success in the classroom as well as meeting daily practice challenges in order to improve our season-ending performance at the A-10 Championships," concluded Rathman.
