Xavier's APR Data

CINCINNATI – The Xavier University Department of Athletics fared well across the board in the 2007-08 NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) Institutional Report, which gauges an institution’s academic performance through eligibility and retention. The XU men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s swimming teams each posted perfect APR scores of 1000.

Of Xavier’s 18 sports, 12 were ranked in the 70th percentile or better nationally and 14 of XU’s 17 teams that compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference beat the league average.  XU’s only program that does not compete in the A-10, women’s golf, posted an APR of 990.

All 18 of Xavier’s sports teams achieved an APR of 942 or better.  Programs must attain a multiyear APR score of 925 or higher to avoid contemporaneous penalties. This multiyear APR is derived from data submitted by UC for the 2004-05, 2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08 academic years.

The XU men’s basketball team continued its strong academic run and posted an APR of 976, which ranks in the 80th-90th percentile of all men’s basketball programs nationally.  The women’s cross country and indoor and outdoor track continued exceptional APR runs achieving scores of 996, 995 and 995 respectively.
