Day Two Of Magnus Cup In The Books For XU Swimming

CLEVELAND - At the conclusion of the second day of swimming in the Magnus Cup, both Xavier men's and women's swimming teams remain in third place. The women's team has registered 737 points and the men have amassed 606.5.
Jacquelyn Misanik, Maddie Day, Lynn Brotherton and Claire Brolsma teamed for a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:47.54). Molly Kroeger (1:52.81) added another four-place effort in the 200 free. Taylor Jach (1:55.69) and Olivia Wilkes (1:58.04) joined Kroeger in the A-Final, finishing seventh and 10th, respectively.
Day gave Xavier its third, fourth-place showing, registering a time of 1:06.49 in the 100 breaststroke. Natalie Hyde (sixth/1:06.93) and Haley Dresner (ninth/1:07.95) also placed in the event. Misanik (fifth/58.10) and Kristen Liebert (eighth/59.51) placed in the A-Final of the 100 backstroke.
The women delivered their best performance of the day in the final event. Mackenna Rife, Misanik, Jach and Kroeger teamed to take second in the 800 free relay (7:42.18).
Will Oswald, Carter Clark, Erik Biernat and John Kinney touched sixth (1:34.22) in the men's 200 medley relay. The men also picked up a fifth-place finish in the 800 free relay. Arthur Smith, Kiernan McGeehan, Luke Johanns and Chad Thompson swam the race in 6:58.32.
The Magnus Cup will continue with a round of prelims Sunday morning and then close with finals Sunday evening. The meet is being held at the Robert F. Busbey Natatorium in Cleveland.
