CLEVELAND - The Xavier University swim teams solidified their positions at the Magnus Cup Invitational during the second day of competition. With 791 points, the men have a 61-point margin between themselves and Ohio State, while the women have 572 points and a 95-point advantage over Saint Francis, which sits in fourth.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Jacquelyn Misanik, Haley Dresner, Courtney Shields and Randi Windemuller posted a time of 1:48.80 to earn fifth. David Maxwell, Rick Stewart, Sam Conchuratt and Luke Johanns combined for a second-place finish in the men's 200 medley relay, swimming in a time of 1:32.66.
Molly Kroeger turned in a time of 1:53.69 in the 200 free, placing fourth in the event. Six different Musketeers earned a top-finish in the men's 200 free, led by Eric Dirvin's winning time of 1:41.72. Conchuratt (3rd), Landon Graham (5th), Kiernan McGeehan (6th), Will Oswald (7th) and Luke Johanns (8th) also turned in terrific performances in the event.
Natalie Hyde (1:07.54) and Dresner (1:07.54) turned in fifth- and sixth-place efforts, respectively, in the women's 100 breaststroke and Misanik added a fifth-place finish in the 100 back. For the men, Maxwell touched fourth in the 100 back with a time of 51.71. Dirvin, Graham, McGeehan and Conchuratt turned in the third fastest time in the men's 800-yard freestyle relay.
The Magnus Cup Invitational will resume at 9 a.m. Sunday morning for the final day of competition. The preliminaries will be held during the morning session and event finals will be held in the afternoon.
