OXFORD, Ohio - In the second meet in as many days, Xavier swimming dropped both the men's and women's contests against Miami (Ohio) at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon. The men dropped a tight battle, 130-25, while the women fell, 158-95.
Nick Foster gave the Musketeers their first event win in the 200 fly, touching in 1:57.27. The women's 50 free was a tight race. Maddie Day finished second in a dead heat with two RedHawks, with the three swimmers finishing in 24.99.
Chad Thompson won the 200 back, continuing a string of dominance in the event after winning both the 100 and 200 back in Friday's meet at Cincinnati. Erik Biernat also had a dominant weekend, winning both butterfly events at UC and then claiming the top spot in the 100 fly at Miami. Biernat posted a time of 52.05.
Xavier's men's team owned the 400 IM, securing three of the top four spots in the event. Thompson led the way with a time of 4:12.74 and was followed by Eric Futscher (4:13.54), who finished second, and Foster, who touched fourth (4:24.79).
Luke Johanns, Carter Clark, Rodrigo Suriano and Armando Moss closed the meet for XU with a stellar performance in the 400 free relay. The four men combined for a time of 3:07.69, which was over two seconds faster than second place.
Xavier has a two-week hiatus between meets when the women take to the pool against Bowling Green. The meet will be held at O'Connor Sports Center on XU's campus.
