LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Xavier men's and women's swim teams suffered a setback in the season opener at Louisville Friday evening. The XU men fell 185-72 while the women fell 190-67.

In the men's 100 yard butterfly, junior Sam Conchuratt took second in 0:51.26. Chad Thompson took first in the 200 individual medley in 1:56.93. Conchuratt teamed with senior Michael Zennedjian, Eric Dirvin, and Will Oswald to take first in the 800 freestyle relay.

In women's action the tandem of Lynn Brotherton, Brittany Morguelian, Grace Raynor, and senior Mary Podlaski took first in the 800 free relay. Freshman Carolyn Stewart took home a first place finish in her hometown with a victory in the 200 individual medley. She was followed by Samantha Sloand, Natalie Hyde and Jenny Martin.

The Xavier swim teams will return to action Friday, October 21 in the annual Crosstown Splashdown at Cincinnati.
