CINCINNATI - Xavier swam its first home meet of the year against University of the Cumberlands on Saturday afternoon and both the men's and women's teams came away victorious. Carolyn Stewart and Randi Windemuller claimed the top two finishes in the women's 50 free, while Carter Clark and Dan Schneider finished one, two in the men's 50 free.
On the men's side, Clark was one of seven individuals who took home first place. Alex Huff (1,000 free), Chad Thompson (200 free), Michael Gordon (200 IM), David Maxwell (200 Butterfly), Sam Conchuratt (100 free) and Nick Foster (500 free) all won their races and helped the Xavier men to a 63-30 win. The men also posted top times in the 400 medley relay and 200 free relay.
Anne Frigo was the first Musketeer to win a race on the women's team and helped propel the squad to a 57-36 victory over the Patriots. After Stewart took the 50 free, XU won the 100 free (Frigo), 200 back (Mackenna Rife) and 200 breaststroke (Natalie Hyde). Xavier also won the 200 free relay.
The Musketeers will be back in action next Friday night against crosstown-foe Cincinnati. The Bearcats will host the meet at the Keating Aquatics Center at 5 p.m. XU follows with a Saturday afternoon meet at Miami (OH) at 1 p.m.
