Women's Swimming Narrowly Out-Touched By Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio - The Xavier women's swimming team fell to Ohio, 137.5-113.5, in a dual meet Friday evening. It was a night of close calls for the Musketeers, who picked up multiple second and third place finishes.

The 200 medley relay team comprised of Carolyn Stewart, Maddie Day, Courtney Shields and Anne Frigo put up a time of 1:51.18 in the 200 medley relay and finished second.

Olivia Wilkes and Jenny Martin finished second and third in the 800 free, earning seven points for XU. The Musketeers picked up another second and third in the 50 back from Carolyn Stewart and Jacquelyn Misanik.

In the 100 free, Molly Kroeger and Randi Windemuller finished second and third with times of 54.54 and 55.80, respectively. Misanik earned another second-place finish in the 100 back, while Stewart and OU's Haley Clark finished in a dead heat to tie for third with identical times of 59.46.

Mackenna Rife and Courtney Cox continued Xavier's run of finishing second and third when they claimed the two spots in the 400 free. Shields put up the second best time in the 50 fly.



XU closed out the meet with another second-place effort in the 200 free relay by Frigo, Claire Brolsma, Windemuller and Shields.

The Musketeers' men's and women's teams will be back in action Saturday morning when they play host to the Wright State at the O'Connor Sports Center on Xavier's campus. Twelve seniors will be honored for their time at Xavier during the meet, which is scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
