McGeehan came in first in the 1000 yard freestyle

CINCINNATI - The Xavier men's and women's swimming team competed at IUPUI and the men were able to defeat all three participating teams head-to-head while the women were able to notch one head-to-head victory. Several freshmen on the men's side had great finishes and were able to capture points for the Musketeers.
The men were able to defeat host IUPUI 82-29, Western Illinois 86-25, and fellow A-10 competitor Saint Louis 67-44. The women defeated Western Illinois 81-17, but fell to IUPUI 73-38 and Saint Louis 64-47.
Freshman Kiernan McGeehan earned a victory in the 1000 yard freestyle with a 9:52.29 time, narrowly edging out classmate Alex Huff by three one-hundredths of a second. Huff would get a first place finish however in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:44.60. Freshman Eric Dirvin also saw a first place finish, coming in at 1:42.49 in the 200 yard freestyle.
Senior Michael Zennedjian came in first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.53. Sophomore Chad Thompson was not too far behind with a time of 1:55.83. Thompson would earn first place in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 1:54.10. Zennedjian also captured first place in the 200 butterfly, touching at 1:55.84.
For the second week in a row, junior Anne Frigo took first place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.48. Freshman Carolyn Stewart had a strong second place showing in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.53. Stewart also improved on her 200 yard backstroke time by nearly two seconds, coming in second with 2:09.51 time.
Both Musketeer 400 yard medley relay teams were able to capture first place, with the men coming in at 3:28.93 and the women at 3:59.13.
