Jan. 14, 2012
ROCHESTER, Mich. -The Xavier men's and women's swimming team fell to Oakland and Cleveland State Saturday afternoon. Despite competing in back-to-back meets, the Musketeers had some nice performances. Jacquelyn Misanik led the way for XU with a first-place finish in the 200 yard backstroke.
"We did a nice job racing today against some very tough competition," said head coach Brent MacDonald. "I thought we had quite a few people step up and swim well despite being tired. With the meet against Eastern Michigan last night and the long bus ride this morning it was going to be a tough test and that's what I enjoyed watching most, was our swimmers persevering and pulling out some of their best times of the season."
Misanik led the women's squad with a first place finish in the 200 yard backstroke coming in at 2:08.14, beating out her nearest competitor by a second. Misanik would finish fifth in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:59.08. Courtney Cox finished in second in the 1000 yard freestyle turning in a time of 10:39.09, nearly nine seconds faster than the next competitor.
