Swimming Falls to Eastern Michigan

CINCINNATI -The Xavier men's and women's swimming team took on Eastern Michigan at O'Connor Sports Center on Friday evening. Despite finishing behind EMU, XU saw some great performances across many classes.
The men's squad ended with 90 points while the women earned 97. The Eastern Michigan men had 110 squad while the women had 105.
"I was happy to get racing again," said head coach Brent MacDonald. "We had a great training trip, but it's time to start getting back some of those race instincts. We won several events and had a strong showing against a good MAC team. We'll take a lot of confidence going into tomorrow's meet against Oakland and Cleveland State."
Xavier took first place in the men's and women's 200 yard medley relay. The team of David Maxwell, Wilson, Samuel Conchuratt and and Armando Moss finished first with a time of 1:34.88. On the women's side, Carolyn Stewart, Madison Day, Courtney Shields and Anne Frigo touched first in a time of 1:49.54. Both Xavier teams also took home first place in the 200 yard freestyle. Shields, Jacquelyn Misanik, Day, and Frigo finished in 1:41.69, while the men's team of Conchuratt, John Kinney, Moss, and Pablo Morejon ended with a 1:25.55 time.
The 50 yard freestyle saw Moss and Frigo finish first in their respective divisions. Moss ended with a 21.44 time, while Frigo touched at 24.87. Conchuratt placed first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 50.98, almost a second and a half faster than the next competitor.
In the women's 100 yard backstroke, Stewart was the top finisher edging out teammate Misanik with a time of 59.64. Day won the women's 100 yard breaststroke with a 1:09.77 time.
