Xavier Faced Tough Test In Cleveland State, Oakland

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Xavier swimming team faced a tough test Saturday afternoon, swimming in its second meet in under 24-hours. Sam Conchuratt led the Musketeers with a win in the 200 IM, the third individual race he won over the weekend. In the second of back-to-back meets, the Musketeers primarily swam in off-events against CSU and OU. Xavier returns to the pool in two weeks when it travels to Indianapolis for the Butler Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 27. This will be the first meeting for the two schools since the Bulldogs joined the Atlantic 10 prior to this school year. Women's Results The women's 400 Freestyle Relay team of Anne Frigo, Claire Brolsma, Courtney Shields and Randi Windemuller swam the event in 3:38.38, placing them third. Men's Results Following a strong showing last night in a meet against IUPUI and Ball State, Conchuratt continued his winning ways. The senior took home first place in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 1:53.89. Conchuratt added a fourth-place finish in the 100 Freestyle. Rick Stewart put forth a second-place time of 2:08.46 in the 200 Breaststroke. Kiernan McGeehan placed fourth in the 1000 Free with a time of 9:54.77. Knox Hitt and Chad Thompson added fourth-place finishes in the 200 Butterfly and 200 Back, respectively. The men's 400 Free Relay team of Chad Thompson, David Maxwell, Luke Johanns and Conchuratt joined the women's squad with a third-place showing. The men posted a time of 3:06.25.
