Katie Svihlik begins her third season as an assistant athletic trainer at Xavier University. Svihlik, a 2008 graduate of XU, serves as the primary athletic trainer for the women's basketball team and covers a variety of other Olympic sports as well.
Svihlik, who received her master's degree in kinesiology from Michigan State in May 2010, spent two years serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at MSU. Her primary team responsibility was softball and she also served as an approved clinical instructor for student athletic trainers.
During June and July of 2009, Svihlik was the summer camps coordinator and assistant Gatorade manager for Michigan State's summer camps organizing medical coverage for all MSU summer camps.
While an undergrad student at XU, Svihlik worked with men's basketball, volleyball, men's soccer and track & field. She also worked with football at the University of Cincinnati. In addition, Svihlik worked as an office assistant for the Xavier athletic training office as well as a student supervisor in the registrar's office.
Svihlik is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Board. She is married to Mike Svihlik, who works for the Xavier registrar's office.
