Xavier student-athletes were honored today at the Scholar-Athlete Awards Program which is part of the university's All Honors Day.
Kim Powers Hoyt, 33, is in her third year as the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services in the athletic department. Hoyt served as an intern in the department during the 2003-2004 school year, an Athletic Academic Advisor during the 2004-2005 school year and as the Director of Student-Athlete Development from 2006-2010.
Her job responsibilities include overseeing the Office of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services, while providing direct academic advising support to women's basketball, baseball, volleyball and men's and women's tennis; coordinating tutoring services, and certifying continuing eligibility for all student-athletes.
Before coming to Xavier, Hoyt, a native of Cincinnati, was a member of the women's swimming and diving team at Stanford University for five years. While at Stanford she completed a B.A. in communications in 2001 and an M.A. in psychology in 2002. She completed her M.Ed. in sport administration at Xavier University (2004).
Powers Hoyt lives with her husband, Rich, and son, Lucas, in Northern Kentucky.
