SABRINA A. DiBIAGIO ('91)---1998 Inductee -- four-year letterwinner in rifle. Three-time All-American. U.S. National Team member. First four-time participant at NCAA Rifle Championships.
Sabrina DiBiagio was one of Xavier's first two All-America selections, earning Second Team honors in air rifle as a junior during the 1990 season. The following year, DiBiagio duplicated the feat and bettered it by becoming Xavier's first-ever smallbore All-American.
All the honors began pouring in early for DiBiagio. Among junior women (under 21), DiBiagio ranked tenth nationally. She was one of three junior women selected to the 12-person United States National Team. Her selection was based upon her performance at the 1988-89 U.S. Olympic Team Tryouts prior to her sophomore year. That season Xavier broke into the "Top 20" nationally for the first time and the air rifle team ranked as high as ninth.
On the international level, she finished 11th in the U.S. Women's Junior Division of the World Championship Air Rifle competition in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. She also competed in World Cup events in Zagreb, Yugoslavia and Suhl, East Germany, the 1989 Olympic Festival and the Championships of the Americas in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
DiBiagio at one time held six out of a possible 10 individual school scoring records and was a contributor in setting four team records. A four-time first team selection in both the Lake Erie and Western Conferences, DiBiagio served as Xavier's team captain her senior year.
DiBiagio was the recipient of the 1991 Paul L. O'Connor Award, given to Xavier's top female senior student-athlete. She spent three years on the Dean's List and was twice named to the XU Athletic Director's Academic List.
