Julie Bertsch is now in her third year as an assistant athletic trainer at Xavier University. Prior to Xavier, Bertsch was an assistant athletic trainer at the University of Hartford in Connecticut working primarily with their women's basketball and women's soccer teams.

Prior to the University of Hartford, she spent time as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Atlantic 10 member George Washington, working with their women's gymnastics program. She also served as an athletic trainer at the D.C. United Youth Academy.

While pursuing her undergraduate degree at the University of Connecticut, Bertsch served as a student athletic trainer for the Huskies' women's basketball team as well as their baseball, softball, and volleyball teams. In 2007, she was the recipient of the Connecticut Athletic Trainers' Association District 1 Scholarship as well as the Eastern Athletic Trainers' Association's Kerker "Koko" Kassabian Scholarship.

Bertsch earned a bachelor's degree in athletic training with a minor in sports nutrition from Connecticut in 2007 and a master's degree in sport management from George Washington in 2009. She is a BOC certified athletic trainer, as well as a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association and the College Athletic Trainers' Association.

The former Julie Blowers married current Xavier men's soccer assistant coach Kris Bertsch during the summer of 2012.
