CINCINNATI - The BIG EAST Conference had strong representation at the 2013 NCAA Leadership Forum in Providence, R.I., this past weekend. The NCAA's annual leadership development program provided training for student-athletes and athletic administrators in the areas of personal leadership, behavioral styles, emotional intelligence, personal branding and servant leadership.
Student-athletes and administrators spent five days digging deep into topics designed to enhance their leadership skills within their teams and institutions as a whole. Erik Alanson, Athletic Academic Advisor at Xavier University, was selected by the NCAA to facilitate the leadership curriculum for students and administrators.
"Facilitating the leadership curriculum for close to 500 participants was one of the most challenging but rewarding professional experiences of my life," commented Alanson. "I was amazed to see the growth of students and administrators even within the five-day timespan. It was truly a positive experience I will never forget."
Several BIG EAST schools were represented at the forum including Xavier University, Seton Hall University, Villanova University, Providence College, Georgetown University and St. John's University.
