CINCINNATI - Xavier University officially joined the BIG EAST Conference on July 1 and enjoyed a big downtown celebration midday at Fountain Square. Take a look at a few of the moments captured in a photo gallery: XAVIER DAY

Musketeer Madness at the Square involved a basketball pop-a-shot, soccer goals and a putting green with demos and tips from Xavier coaches and student athletes. Mascots and cheerleaders were on hand to turn the Square into a Xavier BIG EAST pep rally. Giveaways and prizes were also awarded.

Musketeer Madness continued with Xavier Night at the Cincinnati Reds. After an on-field parade prior to the game, fans filled three sections of the outfield. Men's basketball coach Chris Mack and women's basketball coach Amy Waugh joined Red's Manager Dusty Baker to deliver the starting lineup to the umpire. The Reds won the rain-shortened contest, 8-1.
