Join Xavier In Celebrating The Move To The BIG EAST

CINCINNATI - On Monday, July 1, Xavier University will officially join the BIG EAST Conference, a move that will provide additional national exposure for Xavier and a big boost for University admissions, alumni and fundraising efforts across the nation.

All Xavier faculty, staff, students, alumni, fans, friends and supporters are encouraged to attend a the Fountain Square Celebration and Xavier Night at the Cincinnati Reds later that evening.

Musketeer Madness takes over the Square from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a basketball pop-a-shot, soccer goals and a putting green with demos and tips from Xavier coaches and student athletes. Mascots and cheerleaders will be on hand to turn the Square into a Xavier BIG EAST pep rally. Giveaways will be available and prizes awarded.

Xavier athletics will be prominently featured throughout the Cincinnati Reds game against the San Francisco Giants. The schedule of events for the Reds game is as follows:

  • 5:40 p.m. - Cheerleaders and Mascots will greet fans at the main entrance of Great American Ballpark.
  • 6:20 p.m. - On-Field Parade - Join the Xavier community for a parade around the field.
  • 6:57 p.m. - Xavier Army ROTC to present colors for National Anthem.
  • 7:00 p.m. - Coaches Chris Mack & Amy Waugh to present the starting line-up with Reds Manager Dusty Baker.
  • First Inning - Byron Larkin & Joe Sunderman will make an appearance in the Fan Zone.
  • Second Inning - Coaches Mack & Waugh will make an appearance in the fan zone.
  • Top of the Fifth Inning - Greg Christopher interview on FOX Sports Ohio.
  • Top of the Sixth Inning - Greg Christopher interview on 700 WLW
  • Seventh Inning Stretch - Coach Googins and the baseball team will sing Take Me Out To The Ballgame.
