Xavier Pro Series Recieved N4A Model Practices Award
June 11, 2014
CINCINNATI - Xavier University's Office of Student Athlete Academic Support Services (SAASS) earned national recognition for its career development program for student-athletes. The program, Xavier Pro Series, received the 2014 National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics (N4A) Model Practices Award.
Xavier Pro Series began in 2011 as an incentive-based career development program for varsity student-athletes in their junior and senior seasons. The program offers a series of workshops throughout the academic year aimed at preparing student-athletes for professional careers and graduate school. Participation by Xavier student-athletes has grown each year since its inception.
Erik Alanson, Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Development, along with SAASS staff members Kerry Wright and Zach Barge presented a workshop about the Xavier Pro Series at the N4A National Convention in Orlando, Fla.
"Our office is incredibly proud of the national recognition we received for the Pro Series," said Alanson. "This program was designed to help prepare our student-athletes for their transitions from intercollegiate athletics to the world of work. It is great to know that Xavier has developed one of the top programs in our industry."
N4A recognizes one collegiate institution annually with this award, which provides a grant to help fund the program in the future.
