CINCINNATI- Xavier Athletics and the XU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) have teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant a child with a life-threatening medical condition a wish. SAAC members will be at the Xavier men's basketball game against Richmond Saturday, Feb. 25 collecting donation to help fund three-year-old Joel's wish to go to Disney World.

About Joel
Joel is a very intelligent three-year-old boy who loves to play with his big brother Luke. He enjoys watching the Disney Channel®; some of his favorite shows are Mickey Mouse Club House®, and Jake and the Neverland Pirates®. Joel was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a malignant tumor that occurs in the nerve tissues. A tennis ball sized tumor developed on his kidney at birth, and he has had two surgeries in his lifetime, and has undergone chemotherapies since 2009.

He loves pretend like he’s a pirate like Jake from Disney’s Jake and the Neverland Pirates®, so it was not surprising when Wish-Granting Volunteers asked him “What his one true wish would be?” He asked to visit his favorite characters. Joel and family will be traveling to Walt Disney World® Resorts in Florida this summer. Not only will he get to meet Mickey and all of his friends, but he and Luke will get the Pirate League make-over at the parks; turning them into Scallywags. Joel will get to experience all the excitement the parks have to offer, and meet his hero Jake.

How to Donate
There are three ways you can make a donation to help support Joel's wish:

• At the game - there will be SAAC members at the game Saturday passing out information flyers and there will be a table set up outside of the student seating section accepting donations.
